An ALLRAIL delegation took part today in the workshop of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Working Party on Rail Transport (SC.2), entitled “Making liberalisation work for passengers and freight – challenges and opportunities.”
ALLRAIL was represented by Annemarie Moder and Matteo Arena from our member Arenaways, alongside ALLRAIL Secretary General Nick Brooks and Alvaro Ungurean from our member Trip.com Group (left to right in the photo).
The discussions highlighted both the progress achieved and the challenges that remain in opening rail markets across the UNECE region — for passenger and freight services alike. From ALLRAIL’s perspective, experience consistently shows that liberalisation delivers better service quality, higher frequencies, lower fares, and a more efficient use of taxpayer resources.
ALLRAIL thanks the UNECE for hosting this timely and constructive exchange, and for its continued commitment to international cooperation towards a truly competitive, connected, and passenger-focused global rail system.
