ALLRAIL Legal Officer Guillem Ochoa was quoted in a leading Spanish economic and business publication, El Economista.

ALLRAIL has been featured in Spanish business newspaper elEconomista in an article examining the European Union’s plans to make booking rail journeys across Europe simpler and more seamless.

The article, “Europe sets course for a single ticket to simplify travel across the continent”, looks at the European Commission’s new Passenger Package, presented in May 2026 under the principle of “One journey, one ticket, full rights.”

The proposals aim to tackle one of the most persistent barriers to international rail travel: passengers being unable to easily find, compare and purchase journeys involving different railway operators. Under the Commission’s proposals, passengers should be able to combine services from different operators into a single ticket, purchased in one transaction on the ticketing platform of their choice.

Crucially, this is not only about making booking more convenient. The proposed rules also seek to strengthen competition by requiring fair access to rail tickets and the neutral and transparent presentation of competing travel options, while providing passengers with stronger protection when they miss connections during journeys involving several operators.

For independent passenger rail operators, these reforms can help ensure that passengers can actually find and buy their services alongside those of incumbent operators. A genuinely European rail market needs a genuinely open and competitive ticket distribution market.

The objective should be simple: passengers come first. Travelling by rail across Europe should be as straightforward as possible, regardless of how many operators are involved in the journey.
