ALLRAIL attended the 2025 UK National Rail Awards, held at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel in central London.

The event brought together key figures from across the British rail sector. ALLRAIL was represented by its President Elmer van Buuren, Secretary General Nick Brooks, and Board Director Alvaro Ungurean (see photos).

During the ceremony, Greater Anglia was named Operator of the Year—the third time in the past four years that it has received this distinction.

Under the stewardship of ALLRAIL member Transport UK, Greater Anglia has become the highest-performing rail operator in the United Kingdom. Its achievements include:

  • 94% punctuality, setting a new benchmark for operational performance
  • £800 million invested in privately financed new trains
  • £1.5 billion in infrastructure and service upgrades benefiting passengers and the wider region
  • A return of £100 million to His Majesty’s Treasury in 2024, making it one of the very few UK rail operators to do so

This recognition highlights what independent, well-governed operators can deliver for passengers, taxpayers, and the rail system as a whole.
