PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICER (BRUSSELS)

JOIN a growing international rail association: ALLRAIL is looking for someone who can win hearts and minds in Brussels and beyond. Not a box-ticking “networker.” Not a bland event-goer. We need someone who can walk into a room full of policymakers, regulators, or NGOs – and shift the conversation.

Why this role matters

Faster passenger rail market opening is about giving people and businesses more choice, better value, stronger connections, and more efficient use of taxpayer money.

At ALLRAIL, we make that case every day. We now want someone who can take our message directly to the people who matter most: the decision-makers.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven Brussels/rail experience: You have deep knowledge of how the EU works – and ideally, you’ve already built contacts in rail policy
  • Charisma with substance: You can communicate complex ideas clearly, persuasively, and with passion. You bring both presence and substance to meetings and written work
  • Hands-on: Whether it’s drafting talking points, arranging meetings, or following up with MEPs, you get it done
  • Technical awareness: Priority will be given to candidates familiar with railway technical systems (e.g. ETCS, GSM-R), but not a requirement. A willingness to learn and engage confidently on technical topics is essential
  • Language skills
Fluency in English is required, along with at least one other EU language
  • Candidates must already have the right to work in Belgium
    • Please note: Candidates who do not meet these essential criteria will not be considered

What you’ll actually do

  • Ensure ALLRAIL’s vision is understood and recognised with EU institutions, Member States, countries, regulators, and stakeholders on a frequent basis
  • Build and maintain a strong network across Brussels and national capitals
  • Translate technical and regulatory detail into compelling advocacy that resonates across the political spectrum

What we offer

  • The chance to drive meaningful political change in Europe’s rail sector
  • A small, dynamic, and purpose-driven team environment, where passion matters more than titles
  • The satisfaction of fighting for passengers, fair competition, and a rail system that works for all
  • The possibility of partial teleworking
  • Meal vouchers and other standard employee benefits
