ALLRAIL was pleased to take part in the 16th Florence Intermodal Forum on Linking urban multimodal hubs to the High-Speed Rail, organised by the Florence School of Regulation (FSR).
Our colleague Eoin Rollins represented ALLRAIL at this high-level workshop, which brought together key stakeholders from across the sector and encouraged strong dialogue between perspectives.
Together we discussed three key issues:
Integrating High-Speed Rail with multimodal urban hubs, in particular access and visibility for new entrants, as well as operational concerns regarding urban service facilities.
Services connectivity, and in particular multimodal ticketing. We emphasised that seamless multimodal ticketing is essential for a modal shift to rail, and that current dialogue between stakeholders is insufficient.
Governance, on how best to resolve the organisation of transport services in multimodal or multi-governance settings. We raised that private operators have and will continue to establish new routes to underserved demand when liberalisation enables them to do so.
