Bane NOR And Norway’s Rail Sector Donate 1000 More Food Packages For Ukraine

After taking part in the Global Ukraine Rail Task Force journey to Kyiv in April 2023, Cristina Hammersmark – who is Head of International Affairs at Norway’s rail infrastructure manager Bane NOR – intensified efforts to collect funds for more food packages.

Cristina says: “the story and the pictures from the journey to Kyiv moved many of my colleagues. Bane NOR and the wider Norwegian rail sector stand by Ukraine 100%!”.

We are so impressed with the courage and resourcefulness of the Ukrainian rail workers. The Global Ukraine Rail Task Force’s donation campaign – which pays for food packages for their families– gives us a chance to offer our solidarity”.

She continues:

The proceeds from the donation campaign were collected through personal donations from railway workers in Norway, and many asked that they can donate a sum to the donation campaign instead of birthday gifts or Christmas gifts”.

In 2022, Bane NOR was already the largest single donor to the donation campaign and paid for almost 3000 food packages (each one costs 15 UK pounds / 17 euros / 20 US dollars).

And now in 2023 – together with Norway’s wider rail sector – they are providing even more. The food packages will be delivered to railway workers and their families at the frontline of the War.
